ASE English/Spanish Glossaries

On this page, you can access links for two different English/Spanish glossaries of automotive terminology.  Since each glossary was developed with a different purpose in mind, please read the description of each glossary to ensure that you are accessing the one that is appropriate for your needs.

ASE Glossary Of Automotive Terminology (English-Spanish)

This glossary is designed primarily as a tool to assist Spanish-speaking automotive professionals who take the ASE certification exams. Due to the significant variation in Spanish from different parts of the world, multiple Spanish translation options are sometimes given.  No effort has been made in this glossary to identify which Spanish option is the best, or most universally understood, translation.

This professionally published document can be purchased from ASE and utilized in the test center.  For more information , please see the ASE Policy On Use of Foreign Language Dictionaries During The Test below.

ASE English / Preferred Spanish Glossary

The translations contained in this glossary represent most, if not all, of the terms a technician may encounter on the ASE bilingual exams.  The “Preferred Spanish” translation for each English term or phrase is intended to represent a translation that should be correctly understood by any knowledgeable Spanish-speaking technician, regardless of where their Spanish originates.

This glossary can help Spanish-speaking technicians familiarize themselves with the terms they may encounter on the ASE bilingual exams.  However, it is important to note that this glossary may NOT be taken into the test center.  Please see the ASE Policy On Use of Foreign Language Dictionaries During The Test below for more information.

Publishers and curriculum developers of Spanish materials should find this glossary useful in their efforts to produce Spanish content that can be universally understood.
