Special Test Center Requests - Written Tests Only
If there is no written test center listed near your home or workplace, arrangements can be made to have the tests given locally. To arrange a special test center, all of the following conditions must be met:
- A special test center may be set up only when there is no regular test center within 50 miles.
- Tests at special centers will be given at the same time and date as regular tests.
- 75 or more people must register as a group.
- The registrations must come from two or more employers; special test centers cannot be approved for a single employer.
How to Organize a Special Test Center
The person requesting the special test center should contact ASE Test Administration at 319-337-1510 to make sure that the special center will be approved if the above conditions are met. ASE will send a Special Test Center Application Form which must be completed and returned.
Each test taker must fill out a registration form and provide a check or money order payable to ASE for the registration and test fees. A major credit card may also be used. The coordinator for each center requested must complete the Special Test Center Application Form. This completed application form and the completed registration forms and payments must be sent in one envelope to reach ASE no later than March 24 for May testing and September 23 for November testing. Special test centers should be requested as early as possible; priority will be given to requests as they are received.
Approved special test centers will be assigned a four digit test center number. The center will appear on the test center locator and additional technicians may register to test there using this test center number.Click here to download an Adobe Acrobat pdf version of the ASE Registration Booklet, which includes a Registration Form.
Please Note:
- Special test centers are established for the current test period only; a new request must be submitted each testing period.
- Tests at the special centers are administered under the same rules as regular centers. One of these rules states that the test supervisors must be persons untrained in the automotive field. After a special center is approved, ASE will make final provisions for choosing appropriate personnel to administer the tests.
- ASE reserves the right to terminate its relationship with any test center or test center personnel without any advance notice.
