ASE Announces Consumer Education Efforts & Video Contest

Release date: 9/8/2016

LEESBURG, VA, September 8, 2016 – The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has launched a new consumer education initiative, along with a video contest to help answer the question “what is ASE and why is it important to drivers?”

To help better educate the motoring public, ASE has launched a new webpage, www.ase.com/drivers. This page explains ASE certification in a consumer-friendly way and helps car owners find repair facilities that employ ASE certified professionals. In the coming weeks and months, ASE will be sharing this information with consumers through a variety of media channels and social outlets.

Many of the best advocates for ASE are the certified technicians and their employers, who are proud of their credentials and happy to share what ASE means with their customers. So, ASE is sponsoring a video contest to let them share that message with everyone.

The new consumer outreach and the video contest were announced at the 2016 NACE/CARS Conference in Anaheim, CA by Amy Mattinat, owner of Auto Craftsman Ltd. Mattinat said, "We know that ASE certification spotlights your expertise, professionalism, training, and commitment to our industry. Now we want you to help us tell that story to consumers."

ASE certified professionals and their employers can submit an original video explaining what ASE is, why their shop supports ASE certification, and what it all means for their customers.

Videos should be 30 to 60 seconds in length, and must be submitted by September 14, 2016 to be considered. The more creative the video, the better. View sample videos and see complete details at www.ase.com/videocontest.

The top 5 videos will be posted to the ASE Facebook page. The video that receives the most "likes" will win and be featured on the www.ase.com/drivers consumer webpage.

First prize is a trip for two to Industry Week (November 1-4, 2016) in Las Vegas. Included is airfare, 4 nights at the Bellagio Hotel and registration for both AAPEX and SEMA. The runner-up will receive free registration to VISION (March 2-5, 2017) in Kansas City, sponsored by the Automotive Service Association (ASA).

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence was established in 1972 as a non-profit organization to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive professionals. Today, there are approximately 300,000 ASE certified professionals working in dealerships, independent shops, collision repair shops, auto parts stores, fleets, schools and colleges throughout the country.
