1. How does the Program Work?

The ASE Maintenance & Inspection Program consists of four online e-learning modules and an online quiz. The training modules contain audio and visual content, interactive exercises and questions at the end of each section designed to reinforce the content. A glossary and a “safety zone” are also included to promote further learning and awareness of safety issues. Those who pass the 40-question quiz may print a customized certificate.

2. What does the Program cover?

The ASE M&I Program focuses on awareness of the tasks related to light vehicle maintenance and inspection. The modules cover the following content areas:

Module 1—Preparation and Documentation,
Module 2—Fluids, Filters, Belts and Hoses Inspection and Service
Module 3—Suspension, Tire, and Brake Inspection and Service
Module 4—Body, Battery, Charging and Electrical Systems Inspection and Service

3. Is this an ASE certification?

No. This Program emphasizes training and is designed for entry-level employees interested in careers in Light Vehicle M&I service. Knowledge of basic M&I procedures and service is stressed rather than diagnosis and repair.

4. Who developed the Program?

Maintenance and Inspection subject matter experts developed the task list and scope of the Program, while ASE in-house technical staff developed the content. The Program contains professional narration and rich visual content.

5. “Where” is the Program offered?

6. What are the quiz questions like?

The questions take advantage of the online platform. There are interactive, drag-and-drop, matching, “hot spot” (clickable) and multiple-choice style questions.

Individuals, employers, and schools may avail themselves of this program. Purchasing is done online via a credit card.

8. How much does the program cost?

A single fee of $39.99 includes all four training modules plus the quiz.

9. What are the system requirements?

A broadband Internet connection is required. For best results, use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above as your Web browser. Version 6.0 or above of the Adobe Flash Player is also required. You will also need a set of speakers to hear the narration used in the program.
