Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Online Review and Quiz

Important, Please Read!  The online version of the ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Program matches the content found in the 2009 version of the printed booklet. If you have reviewed the training information from an older version (pre-2009) of the booklet and plan to take the quiz online, please note that the quiz content has been updated. To best prepare for the online quiz, please review a 2009 booklet or download a pdf version from the navigation bar on the left.

Please read this page carefully before continuing!

ImageIntroduction
Welcome to the online version of the ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling program. Technicians who service motor vehicle air conditioners must be trained and certified by a US EPA-approved organization. Training programs must cover the use of recycling equipment in compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, refrigerant containment, and the effects of ozone depletion. To be certified, technicians must review the training material thoroughly and then pass a test demonstrating their knowledge of the training material.

Note: The ASE Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Review and Quiz is an EPA-approved program that meets Section 609 regulations from the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990. This program is intended only for technicians servicing motor vehicle air conditioning. Under no circumstances should this program be considered as acceptable for Section 608 compliance, a separate requirement that applies to the servicing of other types of air conditioning systems. Also, some state and local jurisdictions have adopted their own credential requirements; check with your state and local authorities for details.

Certification earned as a result of a passing score on the online quiz is only deemed as certification in the context of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This credential is not the equivalent of technical certification from the main ASE testing and certification program.

Payment and Security
To take the online quiz, you must first make payment with one of four major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. These are the only forms of payment accepted online. The fee for the quiz is $15. To ensure security of your payment information, it will be transferred using VeriSign's secure e-commerce payment system. The site also offers a special payment feature for employers, where vouchers can be purchased in quantity via credit card, purchase order, check, or money order. After successfully paying and registering, you will receive an e-mail receipt notification, confirming payment for the online quiz.

Note: The only time ASE will request payment information is during the transaction phase when you purchase the quiz. ASE will never ask for payment or other confidential information in an e-mail. If you should receive such an e-mail, please report it immediately to: webmaster@ase.com

General Instructions
You must thoroughly review the training material before taking the online quiz.
To pass the quiz and earn credentials, you must answer at least 24 out of 30 questions correctly. At the completion of the quiz, you will find out immediately whether you passed or failed.

Attention registered myASE users: The online refrigerant recovery and recycling program is not a part of myASE and therefore uses a separate username and password, assigned to you at the time you register and pay for the quiz. You must use this information when logging into the quiz for the first time, or for resuming a quiz you started previously. Conversely, the username and password assigned for the quiz do not serve as a log-in for myASE.
