NA3SA: The definitive measure of students’ knowledge
gained in automotive training programs nationwide.

The National Automotive Student Skills Standards Assessment (NA3SA) is a series of tests that measures student knowledge of course content and learning outcomes within an automotive training program.

NA3SA’s independent assessment is a particularly valuable tool for instructors and administrators who are working to respond to today’s increasing demands for measurable outcomes and accountability.

These tests are specially designed to evaluate students who are near the end of their studies in the areas of Automobile Service, Collision Repair & Refinishing, and M/H Truck. ASE developed the tests in partnership with Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES), National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), and SkillsUSA.

All secondary and post-secondary entry-level automotive training programs may use NA3SA, regardless of their certification status or involvement with ASE, AYES, NATEF, or Skills USA. The tests are available each fall and spring.

The tests cost $15 per student per academic year, and are administered through a secure computer-based testing (CBT) platform delivered via the Internet. A proctor, who is a staff person other than an automotive instructor, enables the test for students and monitors their test sessions.
