Leesburg, VA, January 5, 2018 – Effective immediately, the Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) has changed its name to the ASE Training Managers Council. The name change reflects the affiliation the Council has with ASE as well as an overall rebranding of all organizations affiliated with ASE. The name change was made by unanimous vote of the ATMC Board of Directors to take advantage of the high brand awareness of ASE among consumer, industry and education audiences.

Leesburg, VA, November 28, 2017 – Forty-seven automotive professionals were recognized on November 15, 2017, at the Fall Board of Governors meeting of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) held at the Marriott Mission Valley in San Diego, California. The annual awards banquet spotlights top scorers on the ASE Certification Tests. Thirty-six different companies from both OEM and Aftermarket segments sponsored the individual technician recognition awards in the Auto, Truck, Collision, Parts and Service categories, along with awards for automotive instructors. In addition to looking for top scores on ASE tests, award sponsors examine on-the-job excellence, community service and other factors when selecting honorees.
LEESBURG, Virginia, November 27, 2017 – The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) today announced that EPA Section 609 credentials will have additional importance heading into the new year. Starting January 1, 2018, the EPA will require Section 609 credentials to purchase non-ozone-depleting refrigerants such as R-134a and R-1234yf. This requirement was originally imposed on R-12 and now applies to these newer refrigerants. The requirement for Section 609 credentials applies to sales of refrigerant containers 2 lbs. and larger.
