Tom Richardson Joins ASE Management Team

LEESBURG, Va., September 17, 2012 – The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is pleased to announce that Tom Richardson has joined the organization as Vice President of Government Affairs. This new position was created as part of ASE’s commitment to Career and Technical Education at the state and national level, with the goal of providing the qualified entry-level technicians our industry needs. “We are pleased to have Tom on the team,” said Tim Zilke, ASE President & CEO. “His strong knowledge of CTE and his extensive experience in this area working at the local and national levels will provide a tremendous asset to the entire ASE Industry Education Alliance.”

Richardson will focus on developing relationships with state departments of education, labor and transportation to promote careers in the automotive industry and awareness of the programs ASE provides to assist students and technicians, including the new ASE Student Certification credential.

Richardson has an extensive background in the automotive industry, with a concentration in the training and education arena. He also has served on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges Schools (SACS), the Founding Board of Trustees for AdvancED, a Board Member for North Central Association (NCA CASI)) and as a Commissioner for the Council on Occupational Education (COE). Currently he serves on the Finance Committee for AdvancED, and as a Board Member for the National Technical Honor Society.        

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence was established in 1972 as a non-profit organization to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians and parts specialists.
