ASE is proud to announce the launch of our Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Specialist Certification Test (L4).

Service professionals that earn ASE's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (L4) certification demonstrate the technical knowledge to diagnose, service, and calibrate advanced driver assistance systems on automobiles, SUVs, and light-duty trucks.

ASE's L4 Certification covers content focused on the diagnosis, service, and calibration of radar, camera, ultrasonic and other advanced driver assistance systems.

Composite Vehicle:

Many of the questions relate to a sample vehicle using advanced driver assistance systems technology used by most manufacturers. This vehicle is described in the Composite Vehicle Type 1 Reference Document that is provided as an electronic pop-up during the test. Unlike the L1 and L2 tests, the Composite Vehicle Type 1 Reference Document WILL NOT be available as a printed document in the test center. Use the link below to download and review this booklet prior to taking the L4 test.

Prerequisite:

To register for the L4 certification test, you must have passed either the Automobile Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6) or Collision Mechanical & Electrical Components (B5) test.

The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Specialist Certification Test (L4) launched in mid May 2022 as a double length test so that statistics can be gathered on the questions to determine the passing score for the test. Below is a summary of the test completion times and number of questions:

Late May 2022 – Late Summer 2022: L4 tests will have 80 questions and will have a 3-hour time limit. Technicians taking the test during this window will receive a “notice of completion” and their L4 test result in myASE will show "Score Pending." In early fall 2022, they will receive an email informing them that the results have been posted to their myASE account. At that time, score reports can be obtained through their myASE account.

Fall 2022 and later: The regular L4 test will have 50 questions and will have a 2-hour time limit. L4 test takers will receive a pass/fail score report at the test center and/or through their myASE account.
